It's hard to believe we have been in our current space for seven and a half years, but it's true. We have loved it, but the reality is that our need for space has shrunk as a result of livestreaming. For most of our classes, at least a third of the students are virtual, and they tell us that by and large, they prefer that method and wouldn't come back to in-person classes regularly.
The new space will be big enough to hold 12+ students with appropriate distance. It is as long as our current practice space and a little bit narrower. And the windows! Did we mention it is on the second floor with two walls of windows? The building has an elevator, several bathrooms, and a drinking fountain, all bonuses in our minds. Parking should be plentiful. It's a really good fit for us, and we are also encouraged that if our needs change, there are bigger spaces in the building that could work.
We intend to move sometime in the first two weeks of March, but that is a bit fluid. If our current landlord finds someone who wants the space sooner, we can probably accelerate. And if we are overly optimistic about how long it will take to clean the basement, it might be delayed a bit.
